Bullet-riddled bodies of two doctors abducted a couple of days ago were recovered on Monday.
Police said that bodies of Dr Iftikhar and Dr Aziz, who reportedly belong to the Ahmadiyya community, were recovered from a small dam in Dhoke Soba area of Attock district.
The deceased hailed from Islamabad and were practising in the federal capital. Dr Iftikhar had returned to Pakistan from the United States (US) a few days ago.
The police said they were kidnapped from Gali Jagir area of Fateh Jang some five days ago. The bodies have been shifted to a hospital for medico-legal formalities.
“Both the doctors were killed after their kidnapping. The case seems to be something else and we are investigating it,” said a police official. “We will take help from their mobile data for which we are also contacting the concerned authorities.”
A first information report (FIR) was registered while the bodies of the doctors were sent for autopsy. The police are yet to confirm the cause of abduction and murder.
Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar taking notice of the abduction/murder of the two doctors has sought a report from Regional Police Officer (RPO) Rawalpindi.
The provincial chief minister ordered the police to probe the matter and insisted, “A legal action should be taken against the persons responsible for the incident.”
Meanwhile, the police arrested three suspects in connection with abduction/murder and started an investigation.
Two Ahmadis Aziz Ahmed Tahir sahib & Doctor Iftikhar Ahmed sahib were abducted & then murdered by land caretaker of Dr Iftikhar. After he forcefully made them sign a stamp paper of land possession. Their bodies were found near Fatehjang.
Jama’at Ahmadiyya Pakistan Spokesperson Saleemud Din later tweeted that the doctors were abducted and murdered “by land caretaker of Dr Iftikhar”. “He forcefully made them sign a stamp paper of land possession,” Saleemud Din added.
